OK, that was surprising, but comforting in a way. Of what do I speak? Earlier today when I was trying to get here to the blog, I was greeted with a page indicating my site (the blog part) had been tagged as dangerous by Google. Yesterday it was not. So that was the surprising part. It was comforting though to know that Firefox had picked up on that and displayed the warning page. When I checked it in Internet Explorer, the site came up just fine.
Fortunately, I was able to do some research and I figured out what was wrong. Looks like some sql injection attack that enabled the hacker to create some invisible links to malware sites in one of the posts. I was able to get rid of those as well as figure out which file had been hacked and removed the offending code from that as well. Guess I should have been keeping WordPress more up-to-date.
So, I've requested a review by both Google and StopBadWare.org so hopefully the site will be removed from their warnings lists in the next couple days. Apologies to any visitors that may have been impacted.
