THMMC New Year of Motoring Run 2014

For the second year in a row, I managed to put together a run on the first Saturday of the year for the Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club. During the first few years of my belonging to the THMMC, the club usually did a run in January called the Stone Mountain Run as that was where they always went. I managed to make it one year.

With some changes, I decided to pick up planning of a January run up to Stone Mountain. Although weather conditions are always a concern in NC in winter, we have lucked up and had cold but dry weather both years. Like 2013, I am hopeful this will be a kick off for at least one run a month for me. In 2013, that plan quickly went by the wayside and it actually ended up being the worst year yet for me as far as attendance at MINI runs.

For the 2014 version of the run, I started things a little further west in the Elkin area. From there we made the traditional run up to Stone Mountain. We then looped back over to Pilot Mountain and then over to Hanging Rock State Park. On the way to Hanging Rock State Park we stopped by the Old Brick House. I had seen this on Google Maps when planning routes in the area, so decided to check it out. Turns out it is a house that dates from the Revolutionary War.

Below is the video I made recapping the day that ended with a late lunch at Dairi-O's.
