After the original version of IP-Wars.net was so soundly jeered for being a hideous green color scheme, one really has to wonder why this site now has a green color scheme. Very odd that I would choose to repeat that mistake. But repeat it I will!
First off, the background in the graphic above (the banner part) has been designed to look like the paper that I spend so much time writing on. It is a Staedtler brand Engineer's Computation Pad, No. 937 811E. It is a pale green in color with a grid of pale green lines (5x5) and heavier green lines marking the borders. Actually, the green lines creating the grid on the front side are from the dark green lines on the back side showing through. It is just enough to provide guidance when writing, yet very subtle. I'm not sure how long I've been using these things, but I think they are great. So, I decided to try to create a graphic version of them to serve as the background. Hey, I wanted to do the page background (the part that is black) in it - imagine how that would have shocked the eyes!
The South Park looking character above is ME! Actually, it is a version of me rendered by one of my former employees. He prepared "South Park" characters for all of the folks who worked in the MIS department. As far as I know, I'm the only person who was not in that department who was honored with such a character. Anyway, whenever anyone left, they got a version of just themselves along with a version showing all of the "characters" with signatures (that one is in a frame). It is currently down right now as my office is stripped bare, but as soon as I get to where I can hang things, it will be going up. I take it as a sign that I avoided being classified as a PHB. I'm actually rather moved everytime I look at it or think of that great group of folks.
I will also mention that you may notice the character is bald. I'm not bald right now, but I wish I was. 2 or 3 years ago I took the plunge and shaved my head completely bald for at least a couple months. At first it was a sickly pale color, but it was slowly getting to a nice tan to match the rest of my skin. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed being bald. The act of shaving my head (which I had to do just about daily) was very relaxing and helped me get my day off to a good start. And during the day, I enjoyed the feel of my skin under my fingers when I would rub my head while thinking. I would love to go back to being bald. Alas, my wife does not like it (despite my attempts to point out all the successful, professional people who are bald) and she barely tolerates my short haircut I maintain right now (a 2 blade for those counting). At least for now she is probably right as I don't know what the next day may bring as far as a job interview or meeting with a new client. Those who know me with hair were pretty shocked when I shaved it (probably leading to it serving as the model for my character), though I think those I've never met wouldn't think twice about it. One day...
Finally, the "to teh moon!!!" part (not just the graphic, but the name of the site as well). Those familiar with Internet folklore know that "teh" is a common misspelling of "the" and is used in place of "the" by hackers (or should that be h4xorz or some derivative?). Anyway, over on the Yahoo! SCOX board, back when the whole SCOX v. World pony show was getting revved up, some of the "supporters" of SCOX would occassionally post messages indicating they thought the SCOX stock was going "to teh moon!" when they won their lawsuit. Of course, SCOX doesn't have a chance of winning their lawsuit, so there is no way the stock will ever make it "to teh moon!" Interestingly enough, shortly before starting up this site (it was an idea in my head at the time) I ran across a posting on the Yahoo! EAG board by someone claiming that stock was going "to teh moon!!!" At this point, I just find it to be a funny comment on parts of the culture of the Internet. So I checked and no one had claimed it (unlike jeffcausey.com). So, though it is a bit irreverant, it is now the name for my personal web site.
